The “Northern Arrow” Summer Vacation Excursion
Special All-Private Car Deluxe Train to Northern Michigan
July 31^st,  2009 thru August 5^th, 2009

Fox River Rail Car is pleased to offer a mid-summer rail travel excursion event on a Private Deluxe Special Train from Chicago to Northern Michigan and Mackinac Island.

On this exciting rail excursion we will host our guests onboard the Private Car Pointe St. Charles for a six-day tour; departing Chicago on the afternoon of Friday, July 31st. We’ll travel eastward on the Amtrak Blue Water Route, to Durand, Michigan; then switch to the Great Lakes Central Railroad, formerly the Tuscola & Saginaw Bay Railway, and our Special Train will be stopping overnight at Owosso, Michigan.

Saturday, August 1st, The Northern Arrow will proceed northward, through Michigan’s scenic forest country to Petoskey on Little Traverse Bay, stop at the Old-Fashioned Days Festival at Marion; then continue on to Cadillac and Fife Lake (where we will stop for swimming in the lake); and continue on for an early evening stop to enjoy the Polish Festival in Boyne Falls. The travel day will end with our arrival Saturday evening in Petoskey, where the Northern Arrow will be parked adjacent to the famous Perry Hotel, in the heart of Petoskey’s Gaslight District, overlooking Lake Michigan’s Little Traverse Bay. This location will be our stationment for the next three days.

After a restful nights sleep, Pointe St. Charles passengers will be guests at the famous Perry Hotel Sunday Brunch and enjoy a relaxing day in and about Petoskey, Bay View and Harbor Springs.

On Monday, August 3rd, a Day Trip to visit and tour Mackinac Island and the Grand Hotel will be available, as well as other local activities.

The “Northern Arrow” Special departs from Petoskey on Tuesday at 8:00 AM, traveling southward.  We’ll make a two hour luncheon stop at Cadillac, and proceed to Mount Pleasant for a 5:00 PM arrival at the Mountaintown Station for dinner over a two hour visit (passengers may also wish to try their luck at the Soaring Eagle Casino); and then continue on to Owosso.  During the overnight hours we will travel to Port Huron, and be connected with Amtrak’s Blue Water for an early morning departure back to Chicago.

On Wednesday, August 5^th, The “Northern Arrow” Special will travel west across Michigan en route back to the Windy City, with scheduled arrival in Chicago in late morning, where our trip ends.

Pointe St. Charles passengers will domicile onboard throughout the tour, with all onboard meals, beverage service, accommodations and amenities included in your fare. Fares for travel on Pointe St. Charles and the “Northern Arrow” to Petoskey, Michigan, include all transportation by rail from Chicago, accommodations as stated, onboard services.  Full Trip, Per Person, Double Occupancy $2990.00.

SPECIAL  EARLY-FALL  TRIP  OPPORTUNITY
CHICAGO – WASHINGTON, D.C. – NEW ORLEANS – CHICAGO

Fox River Rail has a unique circle-tour trip opportunity for two persons in early fall, 2009, beginning and ending in Chicago with intermediate terminal stopovers in Washington, D.C. and New Orleans.

We depart Chicago on the Private Car, Pointe St. Charles, in late afternoon on the route of Amtrak’s Cardinal and arrive in Washington, D.C. the next day.

Pointe St. Charles will be parked in Washington Union Station for the next two days, allowing ample time for business, sight-seeing or other activities in the Capitol City.  Departing Washington in late afternoon of the second day there,  Pointe St. Charles will be traveling on The Crescent to New Orleans.

We will arrive in New Orleans the following evening, and remain stationed at the New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal for the following day and a half, before leaving for Chicago in the early afternoon of the second day on the City of New Orleans. Return to Chicago Union Station will be mid-morning of the eighth day.

Passengers are invited to domicile onboard throughout the trip. Fare includes all en route meals, beverages and amenities; as well as breakfast each day at terminal locations.  Fare does not include ground transportation, off-train meal, beverage or hotel costs and entertainments.

Specific operating dates have not been finalized, but expect it to be in the last half of September. All-inclusive, Net Fare is $2995.00 Pre-Paid, Double Occupancy.
